| Rocktown, Pigeon Mountain The Tale: 
This area is well known by rock climbers but apparently by few others. Weave and I decided to check it out after reading about Rock Town and Pigeon Mountain in the great book, "The Highroads Guide to the Georgia Mountains", and we are sure glad that we did. Following the advice in the "Highroad Guide" we had planned to get an early start.( The book warned that the biggest mistake people make is not allowing enough time to explore this fascinating area.) We were packed and ready to go by ten a.m., a time that some might argue is not particularly early. Some might even try to convince you that ten should be classified as "late morning" but, for "night owls" such as we, ten is quite early. It looked as if we would have our early start.
